While aviation has made the world a smaller place, if you fall, it's still hard to miss!

If your not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

I wonder if designers give some thought to wear-surfaces on the wing tips- or deliberately not locating any fuel, electrical or hydraulic systems way out there :-s

Altitude is Time…. Airspeed is Life!

Reminds me of a biz-trip several years ago. We got weathered in at O'Hare and spent a couple days at the Courtyard when the next stop, Philadelphia's airport stopped accepted arrivals. So out of boredom one howling night, I trudged around to the approach end of the active runway to watch the jets coming in.

They were fighting the gusts and making very un-stabilized approaches. I stood there and watched a half dozen jets go over (looked closer than this vid) then had the realization that this was probably a stupid place to be standing. If one screwed up, I'd just be missing from the hotel, not on any passenger manifest, or anything. And besides there was a piano bar--heated--waiting for me back at the hotel...
