I bought a set of L19 tow lugs with the idea of installing them for use as as jack points,
they were plenty stout enough for towing but they seemed a bit scrawny for jacking.
Not sure if they'd hang in there holding the weight of the airplane without bending.

I never installed the tow lugs I bought, but here's a photo of a set on another C180.
I measured mine-- they're approx. 2-1/8" wide & about .167" thick.
They're plenty stout enough for towing purposes,
but considering the size of the hole in them, and probable jack placement,
there's not a whole lot of material where the bending moment would happen when used for jacking.
So I decided to stick with the hoisting method.

Not sure how the tow rig hooks in, but a gusset might work to help make those a viable jack point.

I still think hoisting is a better, more stable method though.

I had the same thought as you re adding gusset(s),
THEN had the same thought as you re hoisting being better anyway.
So the tow lugs are still on the shelf for now.
But someday they might figure into a different way of strapping to the hoist,
to avoid having to use a possibly paint-marring choker.

Re: Quick Jack Option

The parts arrived from the machine shop today. They look great! Boxed and shipped the first 5 sets tonight. Unfortunately I'll be leaving for a biz trip shortly and won't get to install/try out until I get back later in February. I'll keep the thread posted with results.

Re: Quick Jack Option

I had a 2 week business trip and wasn’t able to install the parts until this weekend. Everything works great! The motorcycle stand could use a little longer lever arm to get it over and up on the stand, but that’s an easy fix. It does jack it up way higher than I actually need, but I guess that gives me some growing room if I end up with bigger tires.

I have 5 more sets of the plates if anyone else wants a set.

Re: Quick Jack Option

Did you have to use longer axel attachment hardware to compensate for the plate?

I was using 3 washers before, with the plate I got away with a C4 washer under the head and a standard washer under the nut, with 3-4 threads showing. The bolts are MS20004-28.

Re: Quick Jack Option

I think I'm going to try these wheels out from pro eagle. They make pretty aggressive off road racing jacks.

Anyone else get a chance to install/use these yet? I repacked my wheel bearings the other day, came in very handy!

Re: Quick Jack Option

I'm interested! Did you have to make a pin for the pitbull stand or did you use one of their off the shelf ones?

I think I have two or three sets left. This isn't a for sale thread so I'm trying to not get salesy here, PM me if you decide you want a pair, I'm selling at my cost + shipping. Making multiple sets brought my cost down so I'm passing it along.

This is the bolt pattern, except with 1/4" holes. You can drill them out to the correct size if your axles match.

Re: Quick Jack Option

Where can I find a tow bar like that? I have some lugs, but interestingly they bolt to all four main gear bolts, rather than just two bolts like the stock lugs in the photo appear to.
