Rangely Colorado

Looking for info on the area near the Yampa River /Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado. Heading that way in the 206 in a few weeks to drop off the kids who are going to be doing a river trip on the Yampa. Going to have around a week to wander around that area with the plane. Any areas that are super awesome and should be investigated?Airstrips that are good camp spots?Places to avoid? Lots of things to see out in this zone, just trying to narrow it down and do something cool for the week. Any kind of info would be great ! Thanks!!!!! Low Rider :D

Re: Rangely Colorado

Mike, you'll be about 45 minutes or less from Mexican Mountain and an hour or so from most of the good strips in Utah. A lot of other strips even closer just across the border. Check this out: http://www.utahbackcountrypilots.org/ai ... nuID=28~28

Re: Rangely Colorado

Some great spots to explore within an hour or so.

As Rob said, check out UBCP for a lot of UT options.

Since you stated camping, I'd plan on at least a night at Marble. It's PPR, so sign the waiver now. http://theraf.org/airport/marbleco

Lots of good info at FlyColorado.org on stuff in CO. Unfortunately, not too much in the Rangely area.

Nice one ! Thanks guys . Always wanted to see Marble . Will look into it . Was thinking we would be a little late in the season for hanging out at the desert strips in Utah . Thought it would be cooking hot at a lot of them by now . ?

Cedar Mountain, north of Mexican Mountain is over 7k feet. Delores Point just west of Hubbard/Gateway is also over 7k. Those should be a bit cooler temps.

Huntington (69V) is a nice stop to resupply. They have a pilots lounge with shower, crew car to run into town for more beer/ice/food, and they have cheap fuel.
