Re: Re-authenticate after excessive attempts to login

I hate hackers and spammers. I sold a International Travelall a couple years ago. These stinking spammers would do the "I will have someone that owes me money send you a check and then you can send the overpayment to me". I would tell the scammers to have the check express mailed to me. I got one from Spain and one from Canada.

When they would email me to see if I got the check I would give them the local FBI's name, address and phone number and tell them to pick it up there. I got a $9,000 and a $7,500 check for a car I was selling for $2,500. I was going to wallpaper my office wall with checks. I just figured if they have to keep buying these spam checks and express mailing them all over the country at least it would cost THEM money.

I did talk to the FBI because one guy actually called and I had his phone number. The FBI told me they use prepaid phones and buy them with cash so there is no trail. He also told me to quit scamming the scammers so I did.

Re: Re-authenticate after excessive attempts to login

Here is a simple idea of mine for choosing a password.
Every time I use a Native American word my spellchecker 'reacts'-not in the dictionary.....
Since one of the methods used is to throw the dictionary at the password puzzle one word at a time, you can choose one of the many, many Indian names of our rivers, towns, counties, streets, waterfalls, beaches, etc. and it won't even be thrown at the 'puzzle' since it is not in the dictionary. Better yet, combine 2 shorter ones. The words are relatively easy for us to remember if they are the ones familiar to us, but Russia and Nigeria won't have heard of them.
And the PNW is blessed with so many of these names. Some of them I don't even realize they are not 'English' until the spell checker remind me of our history.
Don't everybody now change their password to 'Puyallup'.... [-X ... :)

lc

Please no comments about if it's mine, it going to be simple........

Re: Re-authenticate after excessive attempts to login

It has been a while since I logged on (or attempted), but today I was maxed out on attempts after my first attempt, so........?
A good solid unusual password is probably a 'good thing'.......

imho
