Red's Wallowa Horse ranch is in northeastern Oregon. It is situated on the Minam River about 16 sm east of LaGrande, OR. It is on the Seattle sectional. I have a couple of videos on Reds and the Minam Lodge strip, that lies just a couple hundred yards North of Red's. This is a roadless area, as it is 8 miles to Moss Springs (closest road). If you want to check out my video look here:
www.youtube.com/skybobb I have several so search the Minam lodge. Bob

Very cool Wayne, is there two strips in that video? It looks like you flew over one and I started thinking crap he is going long and the next thing I know you turn the corner a little and hello, there's another one.

This is really pretty country, and right in Wups backyard. A guy can work it into a combo fish and wheel trip
That is Minam in my avatar...the strip he flies over right off the end and around the corner.

Rob If you look at this video it shows both strips. I take off of the Minam strip jump over the fence and the Minam River and set back down on the Red's horse ranch strip. Bob

Neat video Bob. That is kind of cool having two back country stips so close to each other. I wonder if there's a stroy behind that? Maybe a Hatfield and McCoys or keeping up with the Jones?

I think that the Minam strip was kind of a private strip for a time. But, then in the early 1990s the Forest Service bought Red's and closed it up as a place to fly in for breakfast. So, the Minam lodge took over that function. You can still fly into Red's but there are no meals and the cabins are all closed for business.

I have a lot of fun with my flying. I waited about 20 years to get to go flying and I am trying to do as much as I can. I love to share with others my love for this sport of ours. I take a lot of pride in the fact that I have never hurt anyone and my goal is to finish that way. I hope that is still a few years down the road. Bob
