The pitot gets all the attention but the static port is just as important. I located mine badly in building my Tundra and after the first flight immediately moved it out of a positive pressure zone. On the first test flight the airspeed came up but never got over 90 on a fixed prop that should have cruised 120. Realizing the problem I timed it for two miles and made the adjustment mentally then stalled it to see if the correction also held at low speeds. I used that for reference as I had no feel yet for the new plane other than stall. The Dynon system is state of the art but if the pitot/static is not set up right or there is an obstruction to either the pitot or static side then almost nothing else on the entire electronic flight display is accurate either. It's nearly an all or none situation depending on whether the pitot static system is not just operational, but correct .
I'd still rather look at a six pack of independent instruments any day but the money and capability says EFIS. For anyone building their own and going electronic fight display they should consider installing a heated pitot to operate these with for that reason.
