Hi all,
Just another reminder please post airstrip specific photos, videos, PIREPs (etc.) to shortfield.com. By all means post here too, but posting to shortfield.com puts all the airstrip information in one, easy to access location, specific to the airstrip. When you post airstrip information to the forum, bits and pieces get posted all over the place and trying to retrieve it can be pretty frustrating. Also, as Zane and I work on the new version of our sites, we will be integrating more features, so you can access more of it from this site.

PIREP:
Post a PIREP of current conditions - about both runway and any facilites, etc. This is different from the airport description, in that it is information that might change frequently (e.g. surface conditions, storm damage, fallen trees, gopher holes, forest fires, vandalism, etc.).

Videos & Photos:
Upload a photo or video of the airstrip, the campgrounds, the fishing hole, or anything else that helps fellow pilots get a sense of the location. Approach videos and aerial images are good, but it's nice to see things on the ground too.

Description:
Update the description to let others know what the location is like. Unlike a PIREP, the description is information that is less likely to change frequently (e.g. number of campsites, local trails, nearby hot springs, etc.).

I know a lot of you have been out flying and visiting a lot of cool airstrips (I wish I could say the same), so please share as much of that information as you can. It's a group effort and the more we share information, the more useful it becomes.

I'll try better to get into a habit of writing down info at each strip I land at and post on shortfield.com. Most of the time I forget.

yes please post as much as you can! I love to see other pilots pictures, video's and PIREPS! They help others make a decision easier when you know more about the field! I love the website and try to solicit it as much as I can, and contribute as well!

I haven't looked around to much @ shortfield.com I'll have to see if I can add some good info to the site.

I spent a good part of yesterday afternoon/evening doing my part. I added descriptions (where needed), pireps, and pics for our trip last week. It is a great "one stop shop" database for info. Glad to contribute.

Thanks for all the recent posts! Its fun to see what everyone is up to and it sure makes makes the database more useful!

I tried to post a pirep and picture on shortfield.com regarding the Salmon Bar Airstrip but was unable to because of a pass-word problem, and it would not take my e-mail address. Anyway thanks for your efforts on shortfield.com, a truly great source of information for backcountry pilots. I will try again.
