Re: Restricted Area R4807A

I have the waypoints for all the Restricted areas in that area. The boundries are shown in RED. My (our) route is the GREEN line. C-Ugly watch that "choke point" on your end. Actually it is not a "choke point" as you can fly directly to Belted Peak and on to the Meeting Place. It's all R-4807A. You are good to go. That lower right area is R-4807N. Don't go there. [-X [-X At the lower left is R-4807B. No go there. [-X [-X

I have a real "choke point" on my end (West End) but it is about 15 mi. wide so no problem there.

I wonder which foreign military installation this "not-an-airport" resembles? Something in Afganistan or Iraq maybe?

Re: Restricted Area R4807A

Here is a copy of the NOTAM for this weekend. I think Nellis Con has been reading this thread. They knew we are coming. We are 8) 8) 8)

!SUAW 11/539 ZLA AIRSPACE R4807A ACT SFC-UNL WEF 1111050201-1111071359

These times and dates are Zulu. The times on the sectional are local.

Here is the info on Airspace Notams: http://tfmlearning.faa.gov/Publications ... t0601.html

6-1-4. RESTRICTED AREAS

a. A NOTAM must be issued to activate a restricted area at other than published times for those charted restricted areas that contain the statement: “BY NOTAM,” “INTERMITTENT BY NOTAM,” or “OTHER TIMES BY NOTAM.” A NOTAM must not be issued to make other changes to the charted dimensions or which would exceed the lower or upper published altitude limits.

So as people said if the restricted area isn't activated it doesn't exist. At least that how I read it.

Geek: Did you find a NOTAM for the testing at Beatty. :?

ZAB has three GPS NOTAMS. ZOA has none. ZLA has one from my old stomping grounds. Boles BWS VOR. Looks like Nov 9 and 10

Ain't she a beaut? We're picking her up Wednesday morning in Las Vegas and bringing her back to her new forever home. She's a desert rat for sure.

We now return you to your regular programming

Re: Restricted Area R4807A

Plus they have a TFR (1-9717) over by Alamo Nv to recover the F-15 that crashed on Oct 24 (pilot ejected) and in addition to R-4807a R-4806E, which is just South of the crash site, was also closed this weekend.

I have it on good authority (from experts at Rachel Nv.http://www.rachel-nevada.com/) that there may have been a UFO involved and they ain't looking for just parts from an F-15.

This is our second Dobie. The first one lived almost 15 years, and was called Rosie. We got her as a pup. This one is going to be named Lucy. 4 y/o we think. She comes from Doberman Rescue of Nevada.

0301 Z to 1359 Z on 11/10. That's tonight (Wednesday) 7PM to 6AM. They usually do this but it seems redundant as the area is closed anyway. Maybe the NOTAM isn't for us.

Re: Restricted Area R4807A

I thought Sunday the 13th would be a good day but they got the usual NOTAM in at the last min. I am going to write Buck McKeon and see if he can be any help in finding why this area is always closed. I am sure the intent was to make it available on Sat and Sun unless they needed it. If it is to be always closed they should change the time of use to continuous.
