Rob and James great adventure

Well we couldn't go to Alaska (Thanks Canada) so we are flying around Idaho for a week. Saturday I met James at Lewiston, Idaho and we headed up the Snake River through Hells Canyon. Did Rogersburg, Pittsburg, Big Bar, Sluice Creek

Tomorrow, Simmons maybe, Dewey Moore, Vines, Mackay Bar for breakfast.

Awesome pics so far! Kooskia and Kamiah are my old stomping grounds. I grew up 25 miles from Orofino which is just downriver in a small town called Pierce. I plan on flying that neck of the woods someday.

Looks like you guys are having fun! Please post some PIREPs on Memaloose and Fish Lake when you get back. I'm thinking about visiting those strips soon.

Hi Kristen, both are great for camping. You won't have any problem with your plane. Get on the ground early. Take bug spray.

Re: Rob and James great adventure

Just got done eating a gourmet back country meal. James made taco's that would put a full blooded Mexican to shame. Found a new drink. cabernet sauvignon and mt. dew. Offered to kill some sage rats making there home in the JC runway. The offer was denied. Times they is a changing. When you can't kill sage rats in Idaho you know it is a new era.

There is a fire burning in the wilderness area on Big Creek. Let it burn because in wilderness.

Tomorrow Smiley Creek, Atlanta, Graham, Weatherby and what ever else we can get in. Weather is just perfect.

Re: Rob and James great adventure

Hey Rob,

Any more info on the fire? How much longer will you guys be around there? Is the smoke such that Fish Lake would be better than Big Creek within the next few days? Thanks.

Hi Rob. Less chance of smoke at Fish Lake. JC and Big Creek were clear today but a wind shift can change that. James heads home tomorrow after we hit Dixie Town. I may stay till Saturday AM and see part of the harmonica festival.

Very nice wx all week.

Cheers

I am thinking of heading over there Friday morning, do you think it's too smokey for Vines and Dewey? If your still around we should meet up. Did you do Dewey yet?

Hello Backcountry pilots,
Had a great time flying with Rob as a wing-man. Good times in the Idaho and Oregon backcountry.

Simonds, looks like great hunting but a "ball-buster" of an airstrip!
