Re: Robertson Stol

Or at least some data? I'm not getting any reply from the current manufacturer.

I just wanted to tap the local knowledge here about my A185F with Robertson STOL.

1 Should the ASI have be remarked? I noticed the white arc range changes with the kit

2 Am I reading the VFE speed right, VFE with the kit gets lowered from 120KIAS to 95KIAS?

3. Is there a float supplement? All I've found for late model A185Fs is the land supplement with no mention of float ops

Thanks!

Yes, the airspeed indicator markings MUST be changed.....that’s part of the kit. And both top and bottom of white arc changes.

Yes, 95 becomes Vfe.

Yes, there is a float supplement for the C-185 F. There is no float supplement for the RSTOL mod.

If you order a POH for a 1985 C-185, it contains a float supplement. If the airplane is on floats, the float supplement is REQUIRED to be on board.

If a RSTOL kit is installed, a Fligh Manual supplement for the RSTOL must be aboard the aircraft at all times while in flight. “Some data” isn’t legal.

I googled this up, I couldn't get it to open but maybe you can.

Re: Robertson Stol

The main disadvantage I found with RB stol gear was lack of aileron authority/control on higher angles of bank. The Beaver had the same problem but that was standard setup, the ailerons came down with flap and at higher angles of bank with flap on you have minimum aileron. It is just something you have to be aware of.

Also the 3 aircraft (180/188/206) I have flown with RB gear were a fair bit heavier on the roll controls compared to standard aircraft as well.

A well flown light aircraft will still out-fly one with a mediocre pilot and all the bells and whistles.

I’d be VERY reluctant to open the file. The link jumps to a number of different websites before wanting to do the download, and then want to install a dmg file which in the Mac world is an executable file. Quite likely a VIRUS or worse.
