Rocky gravel bar

This is the most rocky gravel bar I fly to, and today was pretty rough, still lots of fun, love the approach from the river.

Very nice. Good job with power/pitch to protect the nose gear.

Very nice! Forgive me if this has been previously answered, but I'm drawn to your AoA indicator every time I watch you videos. What kind is it?

Nice - Looked for your plane in Missoula, but couldn't find you!

What size tires do you have?

I got stuck there for 2 extra days. Made it in to a bunch of backcountry strips on the way home. Good time, good people and pretty fun!

Is that the OSO slide off to the left at the end?

I saw the weather report, so I would up leaving KMSO on Friday before the wet stuff arrived. I just repaired and repainted the horizontal stab on my Maule MX7 from all the rock dings there. I'm staying away from gravel bars for now.

Yep I hear you, the underside of my horizontal stab is all beaten up, VGs get knocked out now and then too.

Re: Rocky gravel bar

You have been here in the states for a while now, just curious, why isn't your airplane "N" number registered? Is the airplane on a maintenance program from the country of registration or something like that?

Re: Rocky gravel bar

Confirm this is Double Bridge from the east, or did we find something new?

Jughead this is double bridge, landing from the east, fun approach, rocks are bigger this year, the sweet spot its small and kind of in the middle of the gravel bar.
Are you breaking in your engine already?

Re: Rocky gravel bar

Here's a pic of the Oso landslide, taken about 2 weeks ago.
The slide occurred in March 2014.
Dunno why the photo comes out 90 degrees off-
I did a quick check of the how-to forum but didn't see how to fix it.
This is a cellphone photo btw.

Re: Rocky gravel bar

New 170 for you, or a ferry flight for someone else?
I see Chad's 170 is for sale.

+1 on that. I grew weary of fixing gravel induced holes in the bottom of my plane. I see an advantage to metal airplanes in this regard.
