Sacatar Meadows and Sierra Strips

Anyone know the status of Sacatar Meadows in the southern Sierra, and if it's possible to get permission to land there? I've seen mixed info online, and heard rumors of it still being a good strip, however when I tried calling the number listed for the airport owner found that the number was no longer valid. I've been looking into more ways to gain access to the Sierra in general via airplane, and this seemed like a great place to start.

Also, if anyone has recommendations of strips on the west side of the Sierra that have good access to trails without the need of a rental car, I'd be super keen to hear about them!
