Sacramento Air Show Sept 11

As a pilot, how can one not like supersonic jets, loud high speed passes, fire and explosions. A really great show today in Sacramento at the California Capitol Air Show.
From the Supersonic F18 Super Hornet to the Japanese zero's reenacting Tora Tora with lots of fire and explosions. Its a show that I can only recommend you see if you have a chance. Given it was September 11th, it was a great day to remember those that have passed and think about all those who serve and have served out great country.

Steve Hinton flew the P38, Patty Wagstaff did her dance along with the others really showing what they can do in an airplane.

Heres a couple photos but you need to go to the gallery I have posted here. Think I shot about 700 photos.

Hey Kevin:

Great pictures - As are all of yours! What do you shoot with?

This is the first year I haven't gone to the Capital Airshow. It's also the first year that they haven't had either the Blue Angels (inaugural year) or the Thunderbirds (every year since but this one). It sure would be a much better event if they let us fly in.

I got an error message when I tried to link to your Picasa page, said Page Not Found. Looking forward to seeing your other photos.

Over 15 years in the airshow industry and one thing is certain. You don't need the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels to put on one hell of a great show. I think the Patriots Jet Team puts on a more entertaining show, just not as loud.

Link should work now. I need to remember to make it public. Check it out. I shoot with a Cannon D300 70x200 lens and a little Cannon G11. I shoul dmaybe try photo shop but that just takes more time. These are all raw and how they were taken.

The Patriots where really good. I like them much better than the snowbirds. Blue Angles will be at the air races this year. Anone coming to Reno??

Re: Sacramento Air Show Sept 11

Kev - I wish I'd known you were there! A flying buddy of mine handles all the media affairs during the show and hooked us up with passes to the Governers Club which was sweet - free food and booze all day! Got to go hang out in the hot zone, met Steve Hinton and the F15 demo guys, Tim Decker, etc. It was cool. Felt like a big shot. Hopefully I'll get to "work" the show next year with him (You actually met him on the ramp at McCall on your way out of JC in June - in a Husky with some some other guys going to Flying B - Shawn).

I missed some of the show taking the kids over to the kids zone, but it was cool. Miss not seeing the Blues but the Patriots do a nice precision routine.

Took a few keepers, even though the clouds and position of the sun really called for use of a UV filter.

Best part of the day: At the end, I asked my 3yo which was her favorite airplane - "Daddy's airplane". Not...gonna....cry....

Re: Sacramento Air Show Sept 11

Point of clarification - that's not a Stearman, it's an N3N http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Aircraft_Factory_N3N_Canary Interesting history and distinct from Stearmans.

He does live in Auburn though. This is my Stearman at the Santa Rosa Airshow a few weeks ago, N3N tail is to the left:

Here's the N3N on my wing on the way home, the other Stearman in the turn is the red 450 from Auburn:

I couldn't make Mather, I was on the way back from the east coast in the new 180 :D , pics and TR to follow...
