Is this an OK place to vent/lament?

So, a few days ago, I'm showing the old trusty Champ to a fellow who was mildly interested. I'm telling him about the elevator issue (corrosion + honest mystery impact = broken left elevator) and that the new elevator is almost done and ready to install, and I notice a funny curve on the right side of the fuselage. I look closer, and one of the stringers is broken. Just...broken.

No clue what happened, how it happened.

Current plan: try to get it blessed for a flight to ANC or FAI, sell it there as a project plane.

Any suggestions?

:(

Thanks guys.

Dave

Re: Sad

Is it one of the wood stringers that runs parallel to the longeron? Depending on how bad the break is, it might not be too big a problem, at least for ferry. Not sure if it's possible to cut the fabric and replace the stringer. Pictures?

Keep it light.

Re: Sad

If you can get back there without too much difficulty, just put it back in place with a doubler and keep flying it.
