Re: Sandy River PIREP

Are you talking about the private strip in Sandy, Oregon? If so, it's a really nice spot. Several years ago it was purchased and a new private clubhouse built. Usage of that stuff is an unknown, maybe someone else will know. Lots of hangars there so it still has a bit of community to it. Getting anywhere for supplies or food is not convenient as it's a few miles from town.

Here's a really old video of flying in there in a Champ.

Have not been there for a year but was nice visait then. Not very long but easy approach and departure. The trees surrounding the field make the wind a bit weird at roundoff altitude but on a calmish day not a factor. Nice place for a picnic but I've not explored the area on foot or bike yet. Smooth well cared for runway at least last year

03S. Is it private? It's not denoted as such on the sectional.

I guess it's not. It must be privately owned but public use status.

Thanks for the info! I have to get to Boring, OR tomorrow AM. Fortunately I have a ride once I'm down there. Figured I would l spare the bushwheels by landing on the grass at Sandy River instead of going to Troutdale.

That's your best option then.

Re: Sandy River PIREP

Per Airnav, Sandy River O3S is privately owned but public use.

Quite a few little airports in that area, but most are private and/or paved.
