I am a little freaked out by the Super Cub crash up in Nevada. This is one of many stories where no one heard the ELT, and it makes me want to get one of those new Sat ELTs and a remote "on" switch. Do any of you have these yet?
I also think I'll get a Sat phone, the Iridium system looks good to me. What do you guys think?
Maybe I'm over-reacting, but last year I had a magneto problem down in Mexico, and if it weren't for someone loaning me a Sat phone I'd have been stuck down there. I can't imagine what would have happened if I'd put down some place off airport.
How far is too far when it comes to this stuff?
