Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Scout Cargo Pod www.airglas.com

Will be purchasing a pod for flying to Alaska on wheels.

Never owned or installed a pod, any tips/guidance would be appreciated. Mahalo!

Oh mate lucky you, those pods are awesome, solid addition to the Scout! I nearly pulled the trigger on one on the first run but the crappy Canadian dollar made it a bit too spendy unfortunately. I thought the airglas install instructions were pretty good and used it as a guide to install an old sorenson pod. Only thing I did not like was the idea of cutting the fabric for the mount strap so I replaced a couple of the camlock's on the metal belly with an anchor nut plate to bolt the front strap to.

When are you planning the trip?

Thank you Rogue for the information. Not exactly sure on a departure date as of yet. Flying the Alaska Highway on wheels is something I have been hoping to do. Having a little more room for gear would definitely help. Just in the investigation stage as of now.

Do you have some pictures of your Sorenson pod installation? Really enjoyed your posts on skiing!

No worries, sounds like a great trip. Definitely adds some hauling capability that pod. I only just got my old thing mounted up for an afternoon recently and then took it off to paint and do few repairs on. Still very much on skis up here and it hangs a bit low for that but I'll have the bushwheels back on in a month and I'll get it back on and take some pics for you. Glad you enjoyed the ski pics, I'll try get few more posted up soon.

Thank you mate! Scout owners are few and far between and the more information we exchange the better! I’m in Los Angeles for business but, will eventually fly North again.

You are skiing...we are surfing!

Very nice picture. Lovely scenery!

May I ask, “Where do you use your skis?” I have a set of C3000A Wipaire hydraulic wheel skis!

Don't have to go far here, all my ski flying is in the Coastal Mountains, BC under 1hr from the hanger. C3000's are a very sweet set up!
