SCS Featherweight carpet

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

SCS Featherweight carpet

Anyone tried them?. Astounding weight reduction it seems with a clear warning of not being as durable as other options. Might have to apply ensolite foam too beneath it and that would double the weight but it'd still be very very light.

Re: SCS Featherweight carpet

Not sure about that particular product, but I have been using a carpet called "Flyweight" from Douglas Interiors. They supply commercial aircraft interior products. I have used in in a few of my aircraft and the product is defiantly durable. By weight, it was 62% lighter than the material I removed (actually weighed it). It is extremely durable, a bit higher priced than normal carpet. It is very tough to cut and is aircraft certified and comes with burn certs. Not a gigantic selection of colors, but I suspect your not decorating the Playboy Jet.

Re: SCS Featherweight carpet

I recently recieved samples from SCS. The carpet is rediculously light weight! It states 9.6 ounces for a 12"x72" piece! Cost is $12 for that size. Their Ensolite is 14 ounces but the size is smaller at 12"x54" Still, very light stuff. I ordered 4-colored samplaes (4" dia.) and the Ensolite sample, You can barely feel the wieght of all of the samples in your hand. I'm figuring out the lightest possible interior on a plane I am nearly finished with. Unfortunately, if I go with the Oregon Aero Seats, I will be adding weight. :(
