Sedona Airport needs your help

Copied from another forum. I've never been there, but closing down another airport can't be good. Love to be able to fly there some day.

"I am counting on our POA Brothers to help the Sedona Airport.

The Sedona Airport is owned by the County who has given the Airport a lease to manage the Airport until 2050. Recently they have contacted the Airport Authority and said they want to cancel their lease and take control of the Airport (maybe give it to the City to run). One of the City Council members ran on the platform to close the Sedona Airport. The County already manages two airports (Seligman, Bagdad AZ) which gives an indication of how they would run the Sedona Airport.

If the County were to be successful we all can see where this is going - curfews, restricted flights, more noise complainer influence over shutting the Airport down.

The County has no easy way to cancel the valid lease they gave to the Sedona Airport Authority so they are trying to stir things up with public opinion.

Here is the link to the Red News poll. Please vote for the Sedona Airport Authority."

Never hurts to add a few votes to the poll.

Hopefully the results of an online news website poll weigh into the consideration by the council.

Hahahaha Yup. I didn't take the time or make the effort to do anything but cast a quick vote as encouraged. If you aren't entering an email address, it's definitely not counting for much.

So is there a real pro-airport group to support? Are there actual city council or county seats to appeal to with letters?

I don't know anything about the airport politics right now, but Sedona is a world unto itself. Crazy doesn't even begin to describe it...not crazy like it's a bad thing...but the entire town is absolutely batshit crazy. I recall one of the larger real estate companies in Sedona would harmonize a crystal to your, um, essence, then cary the crystal around to see which of their listings responded favorably to it. That said procedure was only done after a credit check didn't seem to degrade the purity of the procedure.

This was not an unusual thing in Sedona...it was advertised on their business cards, and pretty much par for the town.

Twenty-plus years ago Sedona sported the only non-yellow McDonalds sign in the US. They were either unwilling or unable to keep the chain out, but they did make McDonalds change the color of the sign to be less offensive to the towns folks. I know...it's like making a crack dealer wear a shirt from Banana Republic.

There's a lot of different ways to live life and I'm not saying the good folks of Sedona have it wrong, but common ground may not be that common with anyone else on earth. Of course if you claim to be a Visitor from space you'll have their full attention.

In fact, supporting the airport as a alien landing zone might resonate with the population a lot more than saying that people can use it with airplanes.

That's only half in jest.

Wow. one special dude. confirm lead poisoning from jet fuel? interesting. Maybe it's better off that airport is closed and operations are moved to a more sane location. Either way, vote submitted. Whackos

Why did you tell me to read the comments!? Never read the comments!! That was painful. I feel for her in a way, though. I think she is probably really in pain. But, I don't think it's for the reasons she thinks it is.
