Short gravel bar island Cessna 182

This is a small island we found in the Skykomish river in Washington, had my friend Jughead F15 land first in his Cessna 170 to check if the surface was smooth enough for my plane.
Although it was short I applied brakes smoothly because hard braking is what makes rocks go up and damage the horizontal stab.
For take off also smooth power delivery to take care of the prop.

Re: Short gravel bar island Cessna 182

Well done!

Is this AOA accurate at all flap settings? Which model is it?

That looks pretty tight for the 170, I was hoping to see some video if it getting in and out!

Re: Short gravel bar island Cessna 182

=D> I installed the Alpha AOA in my 180 couple of years ago
with the Valkyrie heads up display after seeing Larry’s.
I consider it one of the best safety systems in the cockpit.
Rarely look at airspeed after turning base on approach no
matter the configuration. Another friend just did the same install
on his 180 and concurs.
