Simple Audio Panel without all the Bells and Whistles

Simple Audio Panel anyone?

Any suggestions on home brewing a simple audio panel together ? For a single person buzzing around alone who needs just an audio panel to take in different input sources, all the bells and whistles can be overkill. No fancy 6 station intercom needed thank you.

I am also curious re the use of DB style connectors like a DB27 or DB25.

Here is a link to an interesting thread on another website regarding intercoms vs just an audio panel

Lesson learned: If I were to wire things up today, I would use DB27 connectors everywhere. That would facilitate making changes like adding new equipment.

Anyway, there seems to a lot of expertise here on the BCP website with folks using Raspberry Pi circuits, Arduino boards, etc, I thought I'd give it a shot and toss it out for discussion.

I haven't seen a plain-n-simple audio panel in years.
These days they all seem to have an intercom & marker beacon display built in.
I've seen these installed on an airplane with one com radio, seems like big-time overkill.
What avionics do you need to run through the audio panel?
My first airplane was a Cessna 150J with two ARC navcoms-- it had a pair of toggle switches to control which radio you listened to, and another toggle to choose which one you transmitted on. Worked great.

Not cheap, but these things are awesome: comm, intercom, audio panel all in one. A friend of mine has it in his ag plane and loves it.

Definition of a complex airplane: landing a taildragger on pavement with a 20 knot quartering crosswind.

@ Kneel:

I agree that the PS Engineering stuff is fabulous. The point of my post was to ask for advice for situations which are exactly opposite to those warranting such high end all capable audio panels. I figured there must be a simple solution between units from PS Engineering and a bank of simple toggle switches.

If you only have a few devices, this may be a good and relatively inexpensive choice:

It seems that the FLIGHT DATA SYSTEMS AP-60 AUDIO MIXER from Aircraft Spruce for about $85 dollars solves the problem. For one person no intercom is really needed.

Flight Data Systems - AP-60 Audio Mixer
Why Spend $1000+ and Precious Panel Space on an Audio Panel when all you need is an AP-60? An Audio Mixer is Required any time there is more than one Audio Source. This unit mixes and amplifies six audio inputs. Mounts behind the instrument panel. Mixes and and Amplifies Six Audio Inputs.

For Example:
Communications Radio Audio
Navigation Radio Audio
EFIS Warning Audio
Music Player Audio
Traffic Warning Audio

Any other suggestions welcomed.
