Ski flying, almost.....

I finally got my axle extension machine work done, it was 2.5 hrs of work at the best shop in town. The owner waived the usual rate, and said "take me flying sometime". I'm not sure what the shop rate is, but that's a good deal for me no matter what!

While waiting on the machine shop I did my annual inspection, and installed a new 3 gallon header tank. That work, and re-installing the axles and wheels made it seem worthwhile to take a quick test flight this AM. There was a brief respite between the high winds of the last week, so I snuck one in, now when I fly with the skis the first time I will have fewer potential problems. Plus, I needed to see how the snow was holding up. Pretty good at 6 K and above, and more falling right now.

After landing I got right on the rigging of the skis, and should be ready to go tomorrow.
This AM: I have the axle extensions mounted in this shot.

This shot shows the abundant snow still on the mountain, I'll be doing my test landings on the uppermost farmed fields, much lower and the snow is pretty sparse.

Back at work in the HANGAR, like most airplane work, it has taken longer then I thought, but I could do a second one in 1/4 of the time. Getting the plane jacked up to allow the skis to do their thing took a while, I have never had need to lift the entire plane at once before.

Lookin cool Tom. Did you take Joels header tank out? What did you replace with? Or was this his smaller one?
