Ski Flying - Any reference material books?

Can anyone recommend a good book, website, or other source for learning how to fly with skis?

Of course, no book will substitute for qualified instruction but it's a good place to start.

Life is good. Life is better with wings.

"F.E. Potts Guide to Bush Flying" is a good place to start.

It's almost as much fun as floats! (except you have to bundle up...)

Scroll down on this page from the Iditarod Air Force:

http://www.iditarodairforce.com/winter%20operations.htm

The cold weather tips could be handy too. Depending on where you are, the actual skis are often the easy part. The winter conditions are the hard part- see below  (but at least they concealed their tail number, Zane  )

Also, I second BRD's recommendation above

Check the FAA web site. They have a good Guide to ski flying on there.

Does anyone know the pilot of Denalipilot's cessna through the ice picture? I've seen that photo for years, and always wondered how the pilot got the door open against the ice.

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!
... and, those that pound their guns into plows, will plow for those who don't.

Oh, he's still in there.......
