Skiing Alaska backcountry

Weeks of Blue Skies and excellent snow conditions. That combination doesn't happen too often !

I didn't need to see these pictures, as I'm taking the skis off today :( Great shots though!

Nice pics! I have been missing the good weather while I am stuck on the slope working. The plane looks familiar. Are you the gent that made a run out to the lodge and brought us the redneck survival kit a couple months ago while doing the IAF checkride?

I'm jealous. That looks amazing. I would have thrown a set of skis in the back and done a few turns in the wilderness...

Flying Dutchman,
Are you based out of Sky Harbor?

We were in there last summer in the Pacer visiting our friends the Libby's.

Great ski flying and skiing. Thanks for sharing!!

Yes, that's me. Glad I could help bring out the survival kit. Don't want to be without in the back country!

Re: Skiing Alaska backcountry

How were you able to get the GLH 3000s approved on the 170?

I got them field approved. I talked to airglas the other day and they are very close getting the STC for the GLH3000 for the 170. This is my third ski season on them and they are great.

Re: Skiing Alaska backcountry

How do they compare to the AWB 2500s?

Would you be kind enough to email me a copy of the 337 form for those skis?
Although the local FSDO guy told me he won't approve any skis unless they're STCd or on the TC.

Re: Skiing Alaska backcountry

I took advantage of those last few nice days as well. Hope this latest storm brings enough goods to refresh us for the season; I'm not ready to be done yet.

Zen,

Those are great, but they don't open up very big for me. Could it be the file size? They deserve to be larger!
