Skyraider LSA's

Anyone know anything about Skyraiders? I have a friend who's investigating a crash of one up in the northwest somewhere. He's trying to figure out what is and what is not stock on this plane.

Re: Skyraider LSA's

Lots of variations of A-1' s Our first rescue in Viet Nam was an A-1 driver. He was very happy to see us 8)
A-1 was first round motor to down a mig jet while escorting a helo on rescue attempt in north Viet Nam. A1's could carry more then there weight in armament, bombs etc.

Re: Skyraider LSA's

I think they are still in business? If so why not give them a call, they are/were based out of Caldwell, ID.

Re: Skyraider LSA's

The Skyraider LSA was a single place Kitfox/Avid inspired design, built by the late Kenny Schrader who used to work for Dan Denny. Good basic design, the usual caution with any homebuilt as per workmanship.

A kid was killed in one recently. The investigator noticed that the elevator control horn was broken. He said it looked kind of flimsy to him. He's trying to figure out if it's stock or not.

Re: Skyraider LSA's

Hi all,

I thought I would use this thread to introduce myself and share some photos of my new Skyraider acquisition. I live in Trapper Creek, Ak about 15 air miles north of Talkeetna. I have a 120 and 175 which are both projects that I hope to get back into the air someday and I am building a 2000' airstrip on my property.

Anyways, I did some horse trading this week and acquired a slightly used Skyraider Ultralight that is going to need some TLC before I will be able to take it up in the air. The story is a guy trailered it up from Washington and after assembling the brakes improperly, ran it into a snowbank in Willow. I was told he shut the engine down first, so no prop strike  but it did collapse one side of the landing gear. When they went to move the plane the other side of the gear collapsed and broke one of the prop blades. I got 2 new Ivoprop blades in the deal but will have to rebuild the landing gear. There are several other issues to be addressed if and when she ever flys again but for now is a pretty neat yard ornament.

Strange thing is I was able to go to the Skyraider website earlier this week and read up on all their current models but now only get a "forbidden 404" notice. Their phone number is no good either and wonder if it has anything to do with the accident Svanarts was talking about? Does anybody know the company or owners?

Well I'm glad I finally came out of the shadows and will keep you posted on the project(s)

Randy

Skylarkin- Welcome! To get your photos to appear, click the link that says "Image URL" at the top right header in your photo gallery. Then cut and paste that URL between these thingies: . It appears you might just have to add some [ 's near the end of your links.
Cheers,

Thanks Denali Pilot, that's what I thought I did and even watched the instruction video a couple of times but still managed to fumble it.
