Skywagon gear leg outer bracket.
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?

"Carefully" imparting tons of stress in to a part beyond what it was designed for is no less likely to damage it than imparting the stress like a butcher. It seems like a a lot of work, just to avoid a lot of work.
Like i tell my kids, a lot of times the hard way and the right way are the same way.

Thx Aeropod. Any chance for you to share some pics when doing it from underside pls?
Sure, I’ll gather some up tomorrow.

I did a lot of research on how to replace the MLG brackets and made the decision to remove from the inside. I had NO cracks on the angle bends but riveted the angle brackets under the bent angle to beef it up. Every drilled out rivet was replaced with AN rivets installed with a pneumatic squeezer or bucking. No Cherry Max rivets were used. I spent two months + on this project and avoiding work never entered my mind. I need to spend some time to figure out how to post the pix because the two I posted gave me an error message that the way I added the pix was not how to add.

Been down this road... I've come to the conclusion that cutting the angles or misforming any structure is not considered best practice.
As Sam mentioned, bending will induce cracks that may or may not be visible.

You probably used the attachment method, which works fine. I simply added a note to inform people that there is a better recommended way. You can use either.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
For those who have opened the underside, any chance to see some pics?
Looks like one of the panels that has to be taken out goes all the way to the other side of the fuselage....

- Angles bent back into position with crescent wrench slowly and carefully. Angle doublers added under each of the bended areas and riveted horizontally with pneumatic squeezer. The floor sheet metal was riveted thru both the bent angle and the added angle doubler vertically for strength.
