sling seat for 180
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
Is there an STC'ed sling seat available for the rear passenger seats in 180? I don't really like the Altee Dodge fold up seats because of the snag factor when skydiving. I would like a light weight , easy to remove rear seat. Any Ideas?

The only one I've seen is the one built by Fairbanks Aircraft Services, which has been out of business for many years. I had one in my 170, and it worked fine, though I wouldn't want to sit in it for a long flight.
This seat was not STCd however.....it is listed as an option on the Cessna 170 Type Certificate. Because the fuselages of the 170 and 180 are so similar, you may be able to get a field approval......maybe. Here's the reference from the C-170 Type Certificate:
*406. Fairbanks Aircraft Service Model FAS-1 seat. Installation to be in accordance with Fairbanks Aircraft Service installation instruction dated September 2, 1952. 15 lb. (+70)
I'll try to find pictures. It's not that complex, so shouldn't be hard to duplicate. Somewhere there must be drawings.......

10 or 15 years ago, an outfit called "Cargo Pass" in the Anchorage area offered one. I tried googling up their info a while back with no luck- although I did find a couple not-necessarily-current internet ads for sling seats for sale up in Alaska.. The 180/185 Club has some paperwork for a sling seat which I got for a friend of mine. Not much there but send me an email spamcan57@gmail & I'll forward it to you.
