Re: Some good onboard camera work

The "zoom, steep pull up, hope the engine doesn't quit, push the nose over before you run out of energy and hopefully don't stall" take off at the end of the video demonstrates poor judgement, I sure hope his take off video explains why these type of take offs are dangerous and do nothing except demonstrate the pilots stupidity. I cringe every time I see people do this while showing off.

(Edit)

By the way, I am referring to the last scene in the otherwise excellent landing video. I am not referring to Ron's videos.

It is truly amazing the quality of videography on this site. It seems like everyday something new and better comes out. Just a couple of years ago we had to go to IMAX to see something like this.

I had to watch them all twice!!!

Everyone has an opinion, hell looked like maybe if he did that and did have a sputter he might have had enough altitude to make it to the other side of the river??
If you aren't there it is pretty easy to pick it apart!!
#-o Seems like there is someone everywhere that thinks a max performance take off and climb is dangerous??
There are places where you fly up there that is not a show off stunt, that's just a way of getting it done!!
Some times you you need to get over something or at least get the altitude to get over if something goes to shit!!
Then other times it's just fun to do it and in about 7000 hours of flying I only had 1 engine cough on take off and I am damn glad I was climbing with the altitude I had or I would have been to far down the strip going to fast to get it back on and would have ended up in some houses or power lines!! [-X
As it was I stopped 35' from the end of the runway!!
If I had been doing your standard take off or keep it in ground affect until the end of the runway, I do not think [-o< I would be here writing this!!
Just my opine,, like yours!!
Aren't we glad to have the liberty to post it!! =D>
