I had a mushroom growing on top of my piston...ends up i was flying one of my last trips to moose camp and i lost rpm and noticed a sound difference in the engine, at first i figured i had bad gas or as u would see in previous posts, i thought i lost a mag..so fast forward about a week and half later, with my mechanic, we were trying to find TDC on #1 jug...couldnt find it, we were spinning that prop like no tomarrow, any faster, she would flown herself...so i take a flashlight and peer into the sparkplug hole and see some odd stuff and my first quip to my mechanic (whos on the other side of plane) "it looks like theres missing metal down there....is it suppose to look like this?" he peers in "hell no...you got a mushroom growing out of your piston!"

Definitely looks transplanted, not sure about "growing", though.

That's funny, I had the same thing growing out of one of my piston's on my 302 Ford V8.....Still have it laying around for show and tell.....
