Speech presented at Boise Skywagon club meeting, 1979
A general forum for anything related to flying the backcountry. Please check first if your new topic fits better into a more specific forum before posting.
An older document - yet some really interesting reading about the 180, 185 and Cessna's in general, including facts I never knew.
There's also some contention about drooped wing tips, and 3 bladed props, which is always fun
Hopefully I got the public file sharing right...

I think that is a read that provides exceptional insight to the 180.
I have often heard of the drooped wing tip failing to provide lift and being a device for styling. I have noticed though that it can provide some comfort in a direct crosswind on my aircraft, not a 180, to help keep the up wind wing down. Longer ones do block the view and that doesn't seem worth it.
For the three blade prop issue, that two blades out climbs three, was once considered a fact but now is changing as prop technology has advanced. The new MT three blade constant speed is out climbing their best two blade CS while giving lower vibration and better prop clearance.
I am especially interested in trying the pinched exhaust pipes to reduce sound and may insulate my wing roots to reduce noise.
Good info. Thanks

Lynn Sanderson (Dirtstrip) passed away from natural causes in May 2013. He was a great contributor and will be missed dearly.
