Spray painting question

I'm gearing up to spray paint my wing extensions and sportsman STOL. I bought some aluminum self etching primer and paint in spray bombs. I plan on masking and covering the entire plane, but can anyone tell me if the paint will end up on the walls of my hanger? Or will it just turn to dust and fall to the concrete? I just built the hanger but am not sure if I'll be making a big mess.

Thx for any input.

Re: Spray painting question

I would throw a drop cloth on any horizontal surfaces you don't want some residue on. I don't think you'll get much on the walls, especially if you have a box fan going. Make sure you have a good respirator with fresh carbon filters or even better a pressurized breathing air supply. Isocyanate used in catalyzed urethanes is nasty stuff (cough, cough...just got done spraying primer on the first wing).

Re: Spray painting question

If your just using spray bombs, the overspray wont go more than 10 or 15 feet

Re: Spray painting question

A long time ago I did some bodywork and a repaint on my old truck, using rattle cans (LOTS). I shared a 2 car garage with a neighbor in the condo, and I did the spraying late one night, with the neighbor's car covered up to avoid overspray. I wouldn't ever try that again for multiple reasons, but I didn't notice overspray anywhere in the garage.

Re: Spray painting question

you can also build a cheap spray booth with 2x4s and plastic sheathing if you are concerned
