we went last year after the Maule Fly In. Landed at McMinnville right across from the museum. The museum is one of the best we've ever seen, lots of fantastic airplanes in addition to the Sprucegoose which we'd seen in LA once before. Well worth stopping, give yourself more time than you expect, it's worth it.

I think it's a fantastic museum, well worth the visit. Much of the museum is arranged around the Goose, but it's so large that sometimes you don't even notice that it's there, like it's part of the building. It really is amazing to see an airplane that large dominating other large aircaft.
Enjoy.

John, I'm with you. I took my brothyer and son there last year for the day. We walked in and while standing in line, my brother asked where the Goose was. I was standing back and had to laugh as I pointed up the stabilizer well above his head.
The other thing that impressed me with this place is I understand most of their A/C is kept in flying condition.

I agree it is a great museum.
While you are in the area be sure to take in the Tillamook museum as well. It is in a big blimp hanger but there are some really nice aircraft inside.
Most are flying models.

How do they fly the flying condition aircraft at the McMinnville museum? They're not actually on the airport, they're located across the highway. Is there some provision for taxiing across & onto the field ?

Thanks guys, sounds(reads) like it is worth the trip. If I get to Portland I'll rent a car and check it out. I won't get to Tillamook this time.
