State or location best BC strips

Wanting more BC opportunities and maybe second home/hanger. Fly a Carbon Cub. Areas of interest include Colorado, Boise, Spokane, Wyoming. Like not so hot days cool nights. Pines and forest required. Have not flown these areas. Alaska out because of distance. Ideas? Advice?

For a second home, you can't go wrong with Boise. Lot's of housing options in the Treasure Valley (contact Red Dory through JoeCub or Coyote Ugly).

From Abilene, you can hop on commercial flights to Boise all day long everyday.

Base your plane at any of the Treasure Valley airports and you have countless Back Country airstrips within a 1-2 hour flight all year long.

Pretty much does around Boise. But Boise usually only gets a few weeks of 90-100 degree temps during the summer months. Average snowfall is about 6-8 feet a year. After a big snowfall, most snow is melted away in a day or 2.

My family is from North of Spokane. This summer was ridiculously hot there. Still cooled off to the 60's at night (in the mountains). We saw a high of 106 when I was there a few weeks ago.

You should look into Western Wyoming/Southeast Idaho. Home of the Husky (Star Valley/Afton Wy). Great airpark there in Afton and a really nice one in Alpine, WY. Tons of grass strips and beautiful flying by the Tetons. 2 hour flight to the Idaho Back Country. I just put my own home there for sale and I'm building a new one when it sells. I grew up in the area, so I'm biased of course.

Here is a BAD video of the approach from the west!! Gives you a good view of the area.

Have plenty of room, could build a hangar or I can and rent it to you?? Would consider a building lot, just would take a bit to figure it out, You might just have to come visit, have a 5th wheel you could stay in.

I have some loyalty to my current home of Washington State and therefore Spokane, but I give the nod to Boise.

There are a silly number of approved BC airstrips nearby, plus a lot of BLM land to play on. The weather is decent, there are boating, skiing, riding (on and off road) and shooting opportunities nearby. The weather is pretty good also. Boise even has a decent night life due to the college influence.

Spokane is great too, plus easy access to places like Sand Point and Lake CDA etc. No state income tax, good weather (if you don't mind some whites $%#^& in the winter, and some good fields to be based out of. Either way, I'll visit. 8)

BTW I live in Kennewick now. It's not California, but the weather is fine.

Hot dry summers are great for the rivers and the mountains on the bike(s). Last 2 weeks were a string of records, usually we don't go over 100 but a few times a year, and not once last year.

It's pretty hard to come close to the opportunities presented living in Montana's Bitterroot Valley, "Gateway To The Wilderness"

The Selway is less than a half hour flight, the Frank Church River Of No Return is an hour away. (Even in a Cessna 150.) The Bob Marshall is an hour.

The winters are relatively mild, summer is not bad, occasionally a little smoke from forest fires. The people are incredible, the schools are awesome. Wal-Mart an hour away in Missoula.

Close to Glacier, Close to Yellowstone, no sales tax....

Hiking opportunities are second to none.

It borders Idaho, "A Pilot's Paradise"

I wasn't born here but arrived as quickly as I could.

I want to live where you live! I'm in the Denver area now, and this place is way too crowded these days. I'm stuck here for work, unfortunately, or I'd definitely be living somewhere like that.
