Stehekin

Flew into Stehekin State, 6S9, on Thursday, June 2. The runway was in very good condition. The is the first time I have ever been to Stehekin, and except for a little side slip on final it was not too challenging of an off airport runway. It appears to me that they have opened up a few hundred feet on the south end to give a better picture of the runway, the grass is much greener in that area, but I have no reference. The NPS lady said she thought there were some bikes available for pilots, but Paul from WA State Aviation made no mention of them when I had emailed him about going in there. Hiked around a little bit, then a pretty uneventful departure to the north. I have some gopro footage, but seem to be able to fly a plane but not do anything with video on a computer...

Re: Stehekin

Beautiful area.

This is what I remember of the South end when I was there back in 2011.

They had bikes and carts back then. I sure hope they are still there. Good to bring a few tools, pump, and a tire patch kit.

Re: Stehekin

Went into Stehekin yesterday and strip is in excellent condition.

The bikes were either out ( doubtful since we were the only planes ) or have not been put out yet. The strip only officially opened on Tuesday, so bikes may be under repair.

Tip: If you want to use the bikes, consider bringing a pump with you as the tires are often low. A little TriFlow or similar could not hurt either.

Here is my video from the days events. Approach end looks the same as years ago.
