Steve's Aircraft STC price increase announcement..

March 7, 2019

Subject:
Steve’s Aircraft price increase on all STC products.

Due to increased material costs Steve’s Aircraft will need to increase the sales cost of our products. For several years we have been absorbing these costs but as our costs keep going up it is now time for us to do the same.

Starting April 1, 2019 all STC’s at Steve’s Aircraft will increase an average of 5% for all products. For example, our popular model SA3-00 Gascolator will increase from $255.00 to $270.00.

If there are any questions please call us at 541-826-9729 or e-mail to [email protected].

Thank you,

Brian and Steve Pankonin

Agreed! I just ran fuel through my Steve's gascolator recently for the first time, it's a very well made part and looks like maintenance will be nice and easy. Happy with it so far and looking forward to many years of trouble free operation.

My Tri Pacer has more Steve's Aircraft STCs than any other mods, and between the gascolator, skylight, and booster brakes it's a much better aircraft - happy that you all are sticking around and keeping up with the price needs of biz!

Re: Steve's Aircraft STC price increase announcement..

I think that the only Steve's thingy that I have is the gascolator, which I've had now for several years. But I've certainly told a good many people how that came about, which to me shows the really fine customer service that Steve's has.

When my airplane was new to me, it had the infamous Cessna glass gascolator. The first time I saw the airplane with the cowl off, my imagination immediately jumped to "what if this thing breaks and the quarter cup of fuel it holds splatters all over the hot manifold?" So I started looking for an alternative, and the Steve's aluminum gascolator seemed like the answer.

Problem: when I looked on the Steve's website, once again my airplane was an orphan. Every single engine Cessna known to man was on there, except for my P172D--and that's been pretty common with all the mods I've had my IA do. I confirmed with my IA that as usual, he could do it, but it would take the additional paperwork with the FSDO, but his usual contact there for such things was on vacation, and so it would take awhile. So I called or emailed Steve's (can't recall now), told of my dilemma, and the response was, "Oh, we can take care of that. The FAA will be here next week, and we'll just get it added to our STC AML." Wow! Talk about service!

So I ordered the gascolator, and a week or so later it arrived with the amended STC AML. My IA installed it, and it's worked fine. Recently he replaced the quick drain in it, as it had become hard to get closed after draining it. All in all, one of the best customer service experiences I've had with my airplane.

So likewise, I'm glad to see a good company do what it can to stay in business.

Cary, what's wrong with the glass gascolator - it is pretty darn thick. That is the first time I have heard it described as 'infamous.'

I’m not Cary but I’ll answer that. Go to the bottom of Steve’s own webpage here https://www.stevesaircraft.com/gascolator.php and look at the smeared gascolators there. How do you think thick glass would do in a crash like that?

It’s more than just the cup of fuel in the glass bowl, all your remaining fuel will drain out once that bowl breaks and catch on fire, that would suck.

Re: Steve's Aircraft STC price increase announcement..

I never worried about the glass gascolator bowl on my last couple of airplanes.
Actually kinda nice cuz you can see contaminants in there.
But after buying a C180 with a Steve's gascolator, I'm glad it's on there,
it's much more secure than the stock set-up--
No flimsy bails to bend or otherwise fail and cause a slow (or fast! ) fuel leak,
and no more fumbling around safety-wiring around the bail as well as at the bail nut-
just slide the bowl on, give it a slight twist, and install a cotter pin.
