Stinking Winter!

OK, I know a lot of you have skis and love landing on frozen lakes and/or on fields with nicely packed snow. I just have tires and I have a 300' long driveway. I'm headed out to shovel snow off of that driveway for the 5th time this winter. We got 11" last night and I'm sick and tired of this winter already. I'm ready for some spring temperatures and dry weather so I can actually get my plane up in the air again.

Re: Stinking Winter!

The weather has been so bad, I've updated my Garmin 430 database twice since the last time I was airborne in the Maule. That's just not right! My return on investment for the database is really bad right now.

Re: Stinking Winter!

I feel your pain. I have a new (to me) airplane sitting in a Hangar 1.5 hours away awaiting my arrival to get my tailwheel checkout in and fly to my hangar at the new home airport. Coordinating days I'm not working with the weather is not working out too well. Oh, well. I feel very fortunate to have my own airplane just sitting there waiting on me.

That's just awful. May I ask, what do you do in Mexico?

I would embrace the never ending snow this year had I already had an airplane properly equipped and proper ticket to fly. I got to go do a little ski flying with swingle this season and I gotta say I'm hooked.

Like I said earlier, I'm thankful either way!

Same thing as Zzz. I write tediously detailed instructions on how to move electrons around in predictable ways to make humans happy.

Not a bad guess at all! My town is *very* arts oriented. It got bootstrapped into a modern economy after WWII when returning troops came down to study indigenous arts on their GI bill benefits and never left.

Re: Stinking Winter!

This is about my favorite time of the year. You have to use the snow to your benefit. Looking good BRD, wish our slush would go away so I could be doing that.

That's a nice looking courtyard.

I was a farmer in a former life. The very best farm labor came from your state. Hard working and trustworthy. I always thought it would be a neat place to visit.

Interesting. I'm not surprised, my experience has been that people around here are pretty industrious. I wonder how many leave for the US these days. Net immigration is from the US back to Mexico for a while now due to the strength in the mexican economy, weakness in the US economy and stricter labor law enforcement. In Guanajuato and neighboring Querétaro there has also been tons of investment in heavy industry, leading to tons of jobs that people can get without having to leave their country. Would be interesting to see how that has mapped to your area.
