Congrats on your training slot. I just retired after 20 years. Why aren't you taking the plane with you? Most bases are fairly remote from where the weekend fun is. Take the plane and enjoy it and the opportunity to fly some new parts of the country.

Unless you're going to be stationed overseas, I'd agree; take it with you. Many USAF PT bases allow private aircraft of members to be on-base, either on the main base or at an aux field. Many others are near enough to civilian airports that it's not inconvenient to go there. Besides, your bird will miss you! :)

I gotta jump on the bandwagon here...

You should take it with you. UPT can have a couple challenging days, but if you don't ever take a break from the silly, you will burn out fast. Think Ferris Bueller (you may have to google that due to age!!!)

Depending on your first location and follow-on, you could have a real sweet set of tours. I had lots of time on weekends when I went through, and it would make running back "home" for a mid school visit an easy trip.
