Stunning Camera Work with Russian Military Aerobatic Team

Image

Most of us have seen the Navy Blue Angels, AF Thunderbirds, and maybe even the Breitling team perform. The Russians became more active in about 1991 with their Russian Knights team. If you like many of the back country flying videos shot from the cockpit by people landing at Johnson Creek, these Russian videos will be a treat. The camera angles and from-the-cockpit videography while executing certain patterns and formation flying will astound.

The videos let you experience an in-cockpit perspective of a loop with other aircraft just a few feet/meters off your wing. Humbling & scary. Their website is: Link: http://russianknights.ru/en/

If you go to the links on the Russian site, it "may" sometimes say video only available in Russian. If so, click the Russian Flag icon at the top right corner and you will be good to go. The videos mainly feature music so whether viewed in English or Russian seems irrelevant. I have directly linked a few of their Youtube videos below.

Video #1 ( Some great camera angles from actual accompanying aircraft also flying in formation )

Video #2 ( More great shots form inside cockpit during close formation)

Video #3 ( Russian Knights Video; amazing precision maneuvers at about 8:00 minutes )

Links to other teams such as the Snowbirds (Canada) and Red Arrows (UK) from other countries are all listed here:

Why no German Team?

I am sure teams from many countries can demonstrate great flying skills. I just am pointing out the Russian videos because of the cinematography and from the cockpit camera angles.

Re: Stunning Camera Work with Russian Military Aerobatic Tea

It's interesting that they mix MiG-29s and Su-27s in their formation flying. Su-27s are quite a bit bigger, like if the Thunderbirds decided to throw some F-15s into the mix. Actually, that would be pretty cool! :D

I thought I knew what a tight formation was. Then I watched this:

Skip ahead to 2:20... You can even look around!
