That would be Vines...at 4110 ft, 9/27, 1100 ft long.
It's smaller than it looks and you will go into the river if you overshoot. I've never been brave enough to take my 180 in there, although I know some who have. No slope to help.

Fly-ins for Summer

Rexburg, Id has a nice little airshow in the second weekend in June. I attended the last two years and had a great time.

There's a local guy who has a slew of Warbirds and his buddies and him have a pretty nice show. National acts show up as well.

There's a good Mexican food restaraunt that draws me there as well....

Altitude is Time…. Airspeed is Life!

What is the strip between Big Creek and Cabin Creek, on the south side of the river. If I remember right, it seemed to be in good shape, I would say 1500 - 2000 ft, and sits on an area where the river bows out so that the river kind of sits on both ends of the strip. Anyway, I've seen it a couple of times and it's not charted.

The closest I can guess it that you are thinking of VINES.
BUT, it is a bet closer to 900 ft as I recall.
It is the only one that has the river wrapped around both ends that I know of, unless you are thinking of the Taylor Ranch which is OFF-limits as a research facility.

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.

Just checking out the flyins.....hope to make the JC flyin June 28, then back to Nebraska on Monday, then on to the Black Hills of SD for the 4th and then depart for Montana and Idaho with another plane for the week of July 6 for camping & fishing. Any preferences for flyins/camping/fishing in western Montana?

I pulled out my Fly Idaho and checked out the pictures of Vines and that doesn't quite match what I remember. Now granted, it's been a while since I've flown over it, but it seemed like it was longer with taller pines on both sides. I don't know if Taylor Ranch meets that description.

So what is the story with Taylor Ranch? Research for what?

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

It is owned by the University of Idaho and they do alot of different research there. When i was a student of UofI I emailed them and asked if I could swing by and see what was what...I was thinking about changing to a natural resource managment degree. I was told it was for persons participating in research and to not even think about landing there. Sure am glad they could spend my tax and tuition dollars then treat me like I was stupid for even asking if I could stop by

SixTwoLeemer,
Did you fly up to the Rexburg airshow last year? I was there with my Luscombe. Bagley is the guy with the warbirds, he had a number of them. Couple years ago he had a engine out in one of his P-51's and piled it up in the median of the highway. There is another guy that has a P-51 there with a passenger seat...a 40 min ride is like 500 bucks but worth it I hear.

The airshow was free.
