Sun glasses that are different

I was wearing my ear muff protection last evening while riding my bicycle since my town sounds like a war zone with fireworks. I decided to try this roll up deal I got at the eye doctor after they dilated my eyes last time.and they have enough clamping force to stay on and not have the gap at the ear seals. Today I gave a ride and decided to try it with the Bose and it works really well so will see about getting some extras.

Just buy some good quality sunglasses with relatively thin frames. That’s one of the several reasons I hate Bose headsets, though.....their ear ups and cushions suck, frankly. I have had much better luck with Lightspeed headsets.

And, BTW the Lightspeed foundation actually gives back to aviation causes. Bose....not so much.

Not as cool looking as the roll up unit, but these are pretty good:

I think they are awesome. Keep on rocking those in the free world. They remind me of the glasses worn by Lars Erickssong (lead singer of the Icelandic band Fire Saga) in the recently released documentary 'Eurovision Song Contest: The story of Fire Saga'.

Contrary to popular belief, sunglasses are NOT just to make you look cool. In fact, their primary purpose is protecting your eyes from various spectra of light.

Do some research, and wear good quality sunglasses regularly (even on cloudy days). Good quality glasses should block virtually 100 % of damaging light.

And, look cool, of course. 8)

Re: Sun glasses that are different

I did a little research to see if the roll up glasses were any good and found they are 100% UVA and UVB. Since they wrap around your eyes they probably are better than the prescription dark glasses I used to need. Getting old my eyes have gotten good enough to not need glasses but these can be used behind your regular glasses too . I thought you needed polarized to really protect but that is not they case and also noticed how clear everything looked through these roll ups.

Re: Sun glasses that are different

I got LASIK about 10 years ago, but last year my GF who is an optometrist got me transitions contacts. They are awesome for flying. No hassle of the sunglasses but they cut down the intensity of the sun without darkening things up too much. Totally wearable indoors too. If you already wear contacts ask your eye doctor about trying them out. If you don't need correction you can still get them without any power. They are a game changer.
