SZP advance warning

I am headed down to SZP with my son. He will be finishing his PPL and I will be...watching. Got him mostly done, but he is checking out flight schools and it was easier to get him his checkride that way than arranging it from here.

So, bottom line, if anybody wants to sit on a bench and talk about airplanes, I expect to have plenty of time to do that.

That's such a cool airport, it's where I found my Sedan. Great diner too.

Have fun.

That’s where my hangar is. How long will you be there?

Arriving tomorrow (26th) sometime. There until the 7th more or less...might have a few errands to run elsewhere...but mostly will be there.

Keep Sunday, Nov 4th open. The first Sunday of every month is museum day. Everyone pulls out their airplanes for display between 10-2ish. Usually a car club or two as well, young eagles rides, etc.

Absolutely DO THIS^^^!!!

Go into restaurant and check out artwork (all aviation) on walls. Artist is the guy who created the Starship Enterprise.

They used to have one of his original oils at the register that depicted a 185 on floats on Minto Flats. Belonged to a friend, and I’ve done several flight reviews in that plane.

Re: SZP advance warning

Hey Troy,
I'm out there bumming around most days working on or flying the "OJ Stinson" (yellow w/ white rudder currently), I'd love to share a little bench time with you if we're able to cross paths.

Will you be there in the "Island Girl"?

I'll probably be out sometime early to mid afternoon, will keep an eye out for you.

He is flying with some of the youngsters. Figured it would be a good break from the crusty old fart he's been learning from. (Me)

Met Zack and his family today. Back to the airport tomorrow. Great way to spend a day, SZP is one of the places where the friendly, inviting atmosphere is alive and well.

Mark King over at CP is great. He gave me my insurance checkout in the Sedan.

Yes he is. There are a lot of great, and greatly entertaining, aviators at SZP, and Mark is a great CFI. Did some tailwheel work with him, did CFI with him, and did an EMT refresher with him.
