Table Rock, near Medford: PIREP

Just so you'll know, Table Rock strip is in pretty good shape. Landed there this morning. The best part is the center 1/3. I only did a touch and go, so I didn't pace off the length. Seems like it might be about 2000 feet. Sure is pretty, but you have to mind the Class D MFR airspace. See my new pix.

What kind of plane did you do the touch and go with. I live north of Weed, CA about 20 miles. Have to check it out later.

I fly a homebuilt Savannah. A tricyle STOL machine for two. I've got a picture of it in my picture album.

Tom,

What are you doing in my neck of the woods? I'm just over here in Grants Pass this week.

Funny, I was just watching video of my dad landing on Table Rock in his ultralight the other night. Looks nice and smooth. I have heard though, that it is off limits to aircraft now. By what authority, I'm not sure. Might want to check into it further.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

I was out "collecting airports". I did 13 unfamiliar airports and almost 600 miles that day. I did stop in Grants Pass to gas up and look at Chief Aircraft. I don't have any idea about the status. I heard about it on this forum, I think, and thought it sounded neat. I don't know what you would do there for more than a look around, so it isn't likely anyone who didn't want you to land would be able to do much about it.

Tom,
I went looking for that photo of the Savannah in your photo gallery and unless you count the wing strut I couldn't find one.

You right. Can't tell much by looking at the strut, except that it is a high wing. 8) I just uploaded a picture of the plane on it's maiden flight, 18 months ago.

Thanks for the heads up on Table Rock. I alway drag a strip I'm not familiar with before landing, but if one doesn't land on the road running down the strip, I could see where rocks could be hidden in the grass.
