hello all. i've been trying to figure out if anyone in Mississippi offers a taildragger endorsement, so far w/ no luck. i'm still a student pilot, racked up about 35 hrs including all the necessary solo time and cross-countries before grad school ate all of my time and money a couple of years ago. now im looking to finish up, and, since im going to have to be starting over in certain respects anyway, i'd like to finish up in a taildragger. any assistance is appreciated, thanks

If you are moving to Jackson, MS you will be in the heart of the Delta...ton's of cropdusters. You should not have any problem finding tailwheel instruction.

the delta is about 2 hrs away. delta state university operates a flight school up in the delta ... w/out a single taildragger. i think its pretty much designed for a commercial pilot track

There are plenty of tailwheel pilots in the Jackson area...I wrote the insurance on a lot of them. You will not find tailwheel instruction at flight schools...at least not the right kind of instruction for the most part. Ask around at the local airfields and talk with any tailwheel pilots in the local area...you will find a good instructor.

thanks lowflyby ... are you still writing taildragger insurance down there? my uncle was looking at getting a taildragger endorsement until he saw how much higher the insurance was. he was actually looking at getting a maule, but the insurance priced him out of the market.

I still write insurance all over the country so have him give me a shout...(615) 435-8294.
Getting a new TW pilot insured in a Maule is not cheap. It is pretty pricy for the first 75 - 100 hours and then it can drop almost in half in some cases.
