Tailwheel Ridge

Here is video of what could happen IF your tailwheel bolt broke while you were rolling out on landing. And then what would happen if you were at your friends house checking up on the progress of his airplane projects that include rebuilding one wore out Rans S7 and one Screamin Hotrod Turbo S7. Its good to have friends.

The Tailwheel ridge is Swingle's "Tower Strip". It apparently has claimed more than one tailwheel. In all instances, no damage occurred to airplanes. Just bolts. Well one bolt. We think the other one just magically disappeared.

Also at the end is a classic "GO AROUND" scenario where wildlife run out into the path of an airplane upon landing.

Enjoy!

Great video! Swingle looks like he's up to his elbows in aviation projects.

Is that a new hangar I see?

Yes. That is the corn crib that was converted into a hanger. There is a video of him working on it somewhere on the interwebs.

Re: Tailwheel Ridge

This thread is as good a place as any to post these pics!

What I saw the other day, at Joel Milloway's home base =D> . A new to our area Savage Cub, don't know anything about it or the pilot. One nice thing about taking the Airstreaks off and putting the 6:00's on, I can and do taxi all over on the asphalt with nary a thought about tire wear. I even landed the tarmac instead of the in between grass, partially as that grass is now pretty rough on those tires as compared to the smooth Airstreak ride.

Joel's latest completion, it looks good real close up too, and has all the popular S-7 mods, most of them (all?) dreamed up by him. It made me want to throw rocks at mine
