Been looking for a plane for a while now. Not much info on the taylorcraft F series. They seem to be a great little plane for my mission. I’m looking for something for conservative off airport and trips. The huge baggage area looks great on these. Should I consider one of these or just get a pacer?

Here's some reading I found for you by
searching using Google constrained to BCP:
PA-18-95 or F-19?1980 taylorcraft f21Trying on a Taylorcraft for sizeI've only ridden in an F19 with O-200. It did really well. Tradecraft offered it up to let me fly it but I figured my first go at it probably shouldn't have been in 30+ kts wind. Kinda kicking myself now.

Also recall that Britain beefed up the T-craft when they produced the Auster, not a lightweight in its most developed mil-spec guise, but a tough, versatile aircraft.

There are often many Taylorcrafts for sale and very inexpensive compared with others. Check the various sources like Alaska's List, Craigslist, Barnstormers, and Trade-a-Plane. There's been several F/S in Alaska for months even years.

Anyone know if you can fly a Tcraft with the door off?

Here's my quick cockpit cleaner tool. Stuff just disappears. This is the second Taylorcraft I've had with seaplane doors. The first locked in the open position better.

Is there any major differences with the 19 and F21 other than the bigger engine? They seem to go for a lot more than the 19's?

I don't know much about the F series T-craft other than they are scarce. I had a BC12D and it would outperform a J3 with the same 65hp engine. We could fly 2 up full of gas off a 1000ft strip and be gone every time in 500ft. That wing just wants to fly, and it's fast in the air. You need to trim them to get the speed right back for a good short field landing which will be very slow. It will stall with VG's at ridiculously low airspeeds. On a gusty day you need a definite technique to nail them on. I've owned a Pacer too and think if I found a nice F series I'd go for the T-craft.
