Tecnam tailwheel model

Saw this a while back, forgot to post about it. For the love of all things, why put a swept tail on it? #-o Looks like it's a 1000hp machine, but as usual, suffers from the ridiculous LSA price point.

I really like their twin Rotax aircraft.

Re: Tecnam tailwheel model

Tecnam markets a P2002 as a trainer and is getting quite the reputation as a pilot killer. Sporty, tapered, laminar flow wing and inexperienced pilots is not a good combination. Apparently it likes to snap into a spin and doesn't recover very quickly. I heard quite an interesting lecture, by an FAA official focusing on this particular model, at a safety seminar I attended last month...

I hope this is a better design.

Has anyone had any experience in the P92TD now that they have been out for a while? What do they compare to in terms of other aircraft? Kitfox?Glasair?

A buddy of mine has flown one. There is only one in NZ I think....
His view was it's much the same as your regular P92, which is not surprising I guess.
I quite enjoyed flying the P92, provided it was only 1 up they are quite sporty. They are rated for light aerobatic work too, which is nice; again provided the weight is kept down.

Re: Tecnam tailwheel model

I ended up getting in touch with Wayne and Ruth who own the one in NZ and spent some time in it with Wayne doing a few circuits round Wanaka and then round Mt Aspiring. With he and I both in it and (209lbs and 253lbs respectively) and 50l of gas in it, i must admit I was really impressed with the performance - the air master prop definitely makes the plane! I am seriously considering purchasing one.....

Re: Tecnam tailwheel model

This one is for sale in Australia, just across the pond. I have about 20 hours in it. Fun little aeroplane and yes, it has pretty good performance and gets off the ground very well. And with the larger tyres is very forgiving in off airport ops.

I need to declare, I am mates with the owner and he lets me fly it for fuel!
