It takes strength and fortitude to beat the air into submission.

Nice cargo area, you can carry your ground handling wheels in the back, nice!

Lucky find to get that end 1 + 1/2 unit of a T-hangar. The 44 is a good ship, we use them a lot for flight training here because of their overall characteristics, and quite a few get bought by new pilots that have trained on them. Lease-back to schools helps to maximize the flight hours/calendar years economic equation. They also are filling the lower layer of commercial work, so a new grad with 44 time has a good shot at that first job.

On avionics, I flew an older (much older) B206 the other day that had dual Garmin G5's installed. Would have given my right arm for just one on the panel flying in heavy smoke on fires this year.

Interesting that the Bell had G5s. I wanted to install some in a R44 this week bit they aren't certified on the Robis so no go. Didnt see any AML for the Bell either. They dont have vibration testing g done is what everyone I talked to said. Ended up having to go with electric DG and Horizon for RC allen. DG didnt work right out of the box... :(

In Hawaii, over the years, the Robinsons have inceased in numbers (air tours, schools). Also, seen a few agricultural R44 in central California, which the owners really love. The ship, in the video above, has a TBO of 2400 hours and 12 years on blades. It’s tempting to run her lease back but, it looks like it will be used for trips to BC and Alaska.

I flew around both California fires leaving the factory. Stayed very much VFR. It was hell on earth seeing the flames close up.

Ted’s R44 (2018.12.31 Video KONP->5S4)

Last day of 2018. Mary is in Hawaii enjoying the warmth and Sunshine. I’m still working on my first 100 hours in the chopper on the Oregon Coast. Then, attending RHC Pilot Safety Course back in California.

Ted, I’m loving the helo!! Looks like a ton of fun! I took this picture for you earlier in the year in Idaho. This guy was flying his R44 with his two daughters and a load of camping gear and fuel down from Alaska to make a college campus visiting tour of the lower 48 and then back up again :shock: . Interesting and nice guy but what a trip! Looking forward to your adventures.

Hello CW, glad you are onboard. Thank you for the R44 picture. I have been skiing Mt. Bachelor this year right down the road from you. Was cold this morning? There was ice on the windscreen here on The Coast!

Happy New Years! Fly safe and enjoy. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice too.
