Temperance Crk on the Snake River

Abe and I flew into Temperance Crk on Feb 19, 2009. It was a great trip and really nice strip. Here is a video my wife took for approach and landing.

Thanks for posting the video, it looks great!

I might head down from LWS soon in my 172. Was the runway soft at all?

Who's running the place now? Do you still need advance permission to land there?

We met an older couple in there, they were just dropped off to stay a few days. That was the plane that was already on the ground you can see in the video. The strip was very nice. As far as I know you do not need permission to land there. Abe will know the answer to who is running it and if you need permission to land there.

That was my first time in there and I am glad I followed Abe in there. If you have never been in there either follow someone or go with someone first. Also if you are uncomfortable with flying down in a canyon make sure you go with someone that is experienced with it. I thought the strip was fairly easy but if you screw anything up or panic it could be bad. But what a nice flight in there and a great little strip.

That was a great video Wayne...the folks that we met in there were Butch & Karen Brown, who have recently sold the outfit at Temperance Creek to some folks from Lewiston, whom I have not met yet...

And yes you need permission to land in there and the trip has to be associated with outfitter at the ranch....I go in there to check on Butches stock, which he still has in there....As soon as I talk to the new owners I'll let you know....

They used to say there are no old bold pilots, hell, looka here........

Track My Spot

Coyote, now the secret is out and you know why we go in there...to get the hell out of the snow country...

Also, I found the web site for the Temperance Creek Ranch and just got off the phone with Brenda who told me that they are in the process of getting caretakers who will be in at the ranch hopefully by this spring and stay thru the fall. She said that they are going to allow folks to fly-in for breakfast as well as overnight.

Here is a link to their web site at http://www.hellscanyonpackers.com for the Temperance Creek Ranch

Whee's post about Mackay Bar got me thinking about Temperance. Has anyone been in there lately or know if they still accept fly-in guests?

Re: Temperance Crk on the Snake River

did they ever start... last time I went into big bar I looked it over good. nice long straight in approach to a long dirt strip.. I'd definitely go for breakfast there if they offered. it's a hell of a lot in better shape than big bar...
