The Big Creek Four

Just last night I got an email from IAA that said that on the new (2017) state aviation map that the Big Creek Four are listed as emergency use only. Does that listing on the state map make it official? Is this new compared to previous years? If so, I guess I bought my plane and learned to fly it too late :( Oh well, I'm probably too old to be doing those anyway although they were nice to think about.

The IAA president posted on facebook yesterday that they are working with the state to revert that. I think there's more to come.

I thought they had been listed as "emergency only" for years now.

Re: The Big Creek Four

Sad day, We camp at Mile high and its not that hard. We fly into Cabin Creek and drop off gear to play in the backcountry. Vines is an awesome beautiful strip. Dewey is uphill and a dream of a strip. These backcountry strips are what we think of when we fly 11 hours to get there. I hope they change it before June!!!

Yeah, nothing has changed really, but not a bad thing to have some kind of story in mind IF ever asked.... "overheating, carb ice, bad weather", etc.

It is the same cover their tail as with Part 137: "But when practicable be 500 above or 2000 feet horizontal from any manmade structure."

You can do it but when we want you we have you.
