Thanks for posting that. That was a very cool video. Puts the GPS issues mentioned in the other thread into perspective. As we cruised down to San Juan a couple of hours ago, we were talking about all the stars out and how amazing it was that the early aviators could navigate oceans and thousands of miles with a sectant.

Great video, really typifies our Patents generation. May we never forget who they were, what they accomplished and the country they defended.
How do you think that the average Joe would fare today?

Ya know, as pissed as I get at the welfare mentality overtaking this country, all I have to do is work around the kids currently serving our country and their officers, and I get renewed hope. They're made of the same stuff our past generations of warriors were.

Re: The Long Way Home

Ya know Gump, I was on Fort Benning a few months ago and was surrounded by several thousand young men and women from all over our country. I was sincerely impressed with the attitude and professional demeanor of those people. Now these were black kids, white kids, yellow kids, red kids, hell there might have been some green kids around somewhere and it made no difference. Seems to me to prove that you get what you expect and demand from young people, the military expects and demands the best from all of them and that is generally what they get. Modern society expects gang bangers, dopers, welfare idiots and all of that and that is what we get. Doesn't seem like it should take a genius to see the correlation here does it?

Re: The Long Way Home

Awesome video!! Put a lump in my throat and made my heart swell with pride from what those men accomplished.

Shorton,
I have been in and around the military since janurary of 1979. My wife is still active duty with 23 years and still going. I agree with you that MOST of the men and women in our military are still proud to serve their country. Unfortunately there are members that are in it for the "free ride" also and using the system for what they can get and then when the going gets rough...they whine and say"I didn't sign up for this". More of them then the media lets you know about thats for sure. I will not play the race card here but it does seem to be a disproportionate number of a certain race/color that seem to do this. Unfortunately the way the "NEW" military is...it is near impossible to get rid of them. Luckily these people are a small minority of the total force. Rant and Rave over with.
